Seven steps for creating successful marketing
http://www.gmarketing.com/tactics/weekly_166.html

Step one: Find the inherent drama within your offering. The reasons people will want to buy from you should give you a clue as to the inherent drama in your product or service. Something about your offering must be inherently interesting or you wouldn't be putting it up for sale. Step two: Translate that inherent drama into a meaningful benefit. Always remember that people buy benefits, not features. People do not buy shampoo; people buy great-looking or clean or manageable hair. People do not buy cars; people buy speed, status, style, economy, performance, and power. So find the major benefit of your offering and write it down. It should come directly from the inherently dramatic feature. And even though you have four or five benefits, stick with one or two–three at most. Click above for complete article.

HRSA announces $15 million available for small rural hospitals
http://www.ruralhealth.hrsa.gov/ship.htm

As reported in AHA News Now, the Health Resources and Services Administration announced the availability of $15 million worth of grants for small rural hospitals. The money is allocated to pay for costs related to the implementation of prospective payment systems, comply with provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, reduce medical errors and support quality improvement. All small rural hospitals with 49 available beds or fewer are encouraged to apply to HRSA to receive the grant money. HRSA anticipates all eligible hospitals will apply for this grant program, which would result in awards of about $11,000 per hospitals.

http://www.pewinternet.org/

The Pew Internet Project is funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. Healthcare internet trends that the study identified include: Women look for on-line health advice far more often than men - 72% vs. 51%.

71% of those over the age of 50 use the Internet to find health information, while only 53% of a younger age group (18-29 year olds) seek it.

Those with a higher level of education are more likely to seek out information on line than there less educated counterparts.

There is very little racial variation in the searching patterns for health between African Americans, whites and Hispanics.

The topics most likely to be searched are diseases, weight control & prescription drug information, with mental health information, sensitive medical concerns and following closely behind. Thirty-two percent of on-line health searchers will research a specific hospital or doctor.

The public is most likely to rely on search engines to get them started and visit two to five sites in their search for information.
